Camp between the forest & the sea
CAMPING ONLY
Simple, shaded & close to the water
Cape Vidal is a camping destination: one 50-site camping ground, shaded, self-catering and within walking distance of the beach.

Cape Vidal campsite
50 sites · tents and caravans · from R450 per site / night · View rates
Fifty sites shaded by milkwoods and dune forest, spaced through the camping ground with the beach a short walk away through the trees. Every site suits either a tent or a caravan; there is one campground here, not separate tiers, and positions vary naturally in their distance from the beach and the amount of shade.
Electric plug points are available at each site, rated for lights and charging rather than heavy appliances, so leave high-draw items such as kettles at home and lean on gas for cooking.
- Electric plug points
- Hot and cold showers
- Wash-up and food prep area
- Braai at the site
- Boat launch
Good for
Families, couples and groups who want a simple, self-catering base close to the water and the bush.
What to bring
Tent or caravan, bedding, cooking gear, food and drinking water for the road. The camp shop is currently closed, so bring everything you need with you, including ice. No pets are allowed.
The same for every stay
All camping sits within the park, so ordinary gate times, entry fees and quiet hours apply. Book early for summer and school holidays, when sites fill months in advance.
Check-in runs from 14h00 to 16h00 on the day of arrival.
iSimangaliso gate times
- 1 April-31 October 06h00-18h00
- 1 November-31 March 05h00-19h00
Please note that gate opening and closing times are strictly enforced.
Maximum speed limits are 50km/h on paved roads and 40km/h on gravel, with an average of 20km/h when game viewing.
