Self-drive game loops

Self-drive game loops

Self-guided

Six loop roads branch off the main road between St Lucia and Cape Vidal, winding through grassland, dune forest and freshwater pans. Take one slowly with the windows down for a self-drive safari at your own pace: look out for zebra and wildebeest on the open grass, kudu and reedbuck at the forest edge, buffalo and warthog around the water, and birds throughout.

The 17-kilometre Grassland Loop is the classic. Early morning and late afternoon are the golden hours; midday is for the beach. Keep to the speed limits, give animals right of way, and never get out of the car except at designated spots.
